Marathon Development, Inc., originally known as ‘Marathon Senior Living Services’ was founded by Ted Johnson in 1997. At that time, the baby-boomer generation was beginning to retire and the demand for quality senior housing was increasing. Ted saw a need to assist not-for-profit and for-profit owners, operators, and investors in their vision of owning a senior community by providing the necessary development expertise.
Marathon provided a clear project picture based on the owner’s vision as well as market conditions that included property condition reports, due diligence studies, project pro forma and cost estimates, facilitated project designs, and permitting and project management through building and project closeout on a national level.
Throughout the past 20+ years, Marathon Development, Inc. has completed countless senior housing and affordable projects that include new “ground-up” communities, refurbishments of existing communities, adaptive reuse of existing buildings, repositioning of existing buildings, i.e. Independent Living to Assisted Living or Assisted Living to Alzheimer’s Care and senior housing campus master planning. Marathon has also been instrumental in the finance of senior and affordable housing that included the use of HUD, USDA RD, NW Farm Credit, Revenue and General Obligation Bonds, and conventional and mezzanine finance.
Today, Marathon continues to provide strong leadership, quality project development and management and above all, inspire confidence with each of its owners, operators, or investors that their specific vision and goals will be met with ease.
